The planning committee recommends these movies as companion viewing for Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World.
- All Creatures Great & Small. Stories of a Yorkshire veterinarian based on the novels of James Herriot. (The Sioux City Public Library has series 1-4)
- Cats. A musical based on Old Possum's book of practical cats by T.S. Eliot, with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
- Cats: Caressing the Tiger. This National Geographic program explores the complex relationship between cats and humans and provides insight into cat behavior, which is never far removed from that of their cousins in the wild.
- Seabiscuit. A story of second chances for a horse, jockey and trainer, and how a spirited pony won the hearts of millions.
- Shiloh. A lonely boy hides a dog from its abusive owner while earning money to buy it from him, based on the children's story by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor.
